Homemade Fathers Day Cards

Happy Fathers Day!

This year I decided not to buy a card for fathers day, instead using left over scrap booking card I made my own for the two wonderful men in my life. My partner, the 'Dad 2 Be' and my own father 'Worlds Greatest' These were actually really quick and easy to make.

What you'll need
You Will Need:
All the card you can find
Glue
A pencil
Ruler
Imagination

'Dad To Be' Design
Inside of car
Start by folding over a white piece of card to the shape and size you desire. Then use a postcard or another piece of card smaller than the size of your base card to draw an outline on coloured card paper (It helps to keep a set colour scheme) stick to the inside of your card with a light layer of glue (too much glue will distort the card paper

Outside of card
On the outside of your card use large left over scrap book shapes to make a focus frame for the content and organize where you want them on the cover before glueing. You can even cut out your own shapes on the card paper which would make you a lot more patient than I!

Adding detail
Add smaller shapes with symbols to give your card some more contrast, try not to make it too complicated but enough to help compliment the card. Remember to organize all shapes on card before you glue, just in case you change your mind on where you want everything.

Finished card
Add scrapbook letters (or make your own with stamps) for the finishing touches. Let dry for half an hour or so before writing in the card, this lets the glue dry so it doesn't make it hard for you to write on it.  Viola you've just made a fathers day card! And hopefully it wasn't too frustrating.

'Worlds Greatest' Design
Cover
Use large scrapbook card shapes for the focus frame of your card.

Adding Writting
Organize your letters and shapes before you glue them to the cover as you may change your mind, which I did about a million times.

Finished Cover
Adding symbols to your card will help compliment your card and add some flair.

Base inside
For the interior of your card add some extra special touches, more large rectangle shapes can be used to write a message on and make your card look special.

Finished inside
You can even use more scrapbook letters to add a message or follow up from the front of your card.

Finished Cards
Tadah!! You've now impressed and made everyone look bad with your home-made card that will hit home. And those were just two ideas! Try adding scrap fabric or even buttons to the covers of your cards to add more flair.
