Current Love

Our Favourite Baby Apps

When I first got pregnant I vowed that I wouldn't let my little one near the phone, ipad, computer etc. Boy did that vow break fast! He was into anything technological! I don't want that stuffed toy I want mummy's phone, or that wire, ooo look at that keyboard! Then whenever he got them he was either making skype calls to people I didn't even know I had on my skype account or going through my business emails. So I decided that it was time to find something he could do whenever he got my phone or ipad as much as I hated the idea.

After a lot of rummaging through some pretty awful things these were some of our favourite's or better yet Rohan's favourite Apps.

Baby Apps

Cost: Free
This is Rohan's favourite out of all the apps. You record his/your giggle to each Giggle Gang member and when he presses the screen they come up playing the recorded laughter back to him. It not only makes him laugh anyone in the room can't help but giggle too. There is a second option on the app which has a piano that your baby can play along with songs and singing from the Giggle Gang. To find this app for Apple/Android and other great apps from Fisher Price click here

Cost: Obviously Free
This app is great, it introduces babies and toddlers to different sounds and music at the same time as developing listening, touch, & coordination skills. Not only do sounds play when they touch the screen they can shake, slide and burst the bubble/ball shapes to hear more sounds and see characters. To see more apps  from Sago along with this one click here

3. Baby Finger by DJ International
Cost: Free
This app has three options of letting your baby/toddler tap the screen and shapes, numbers or both pop up. The shapes or numbers are accompanied by sounds so your baby is learning at the same time as playing. Sadly only available on Ipad/Ipod click here

Quick Tips
  • It's a good idea to view photos, reviews and descriptions of apps along with playing them yourself before letting your little one do so.
  • If you're using an Ipad and having problems with your baby sliding the screen and exiting the app you've put on for her, go to the Settings of you Ipad, Go to General Settings and scroll all the way down until you see Multitasking Gestures, turn off. This should stop him from exiting any app you've set to play.
Enjoy!
