7 Annoying Parenting Realizations
1. You will always run out of Nappies (Diapers), Wipes etc. when all shops are shut.
No matter how far ahead you plan, you bought extra and got away! But then those extra have run out! You're guaranteed to go to the shop and they're out of nappies. Time to break out the tea towels to form a washable garment for your baby's bottom. Might need to invest in some re-usable nappies for occasions like these!
2. The Dummy (Binkie) fairy is always stealing those things when you need them most.
preferably in the middle of the night when s/he's screaming to high heaven and you've changed her nappy and checked her over to make sure it's nothing else. Somehow the dummy she went to bed with has disappeared into thin air! Not in the bed, not underneath it, not 6ft away after being thrown? Where on earth is it!? And then you can't even find the spare one! Come the morning, somehow your little one found it, or it was at the bottom of her feet the whole time?
3. No matter how many children you have, someone will always treat you like you've never had kids.
"Oh you just wait till he get's to his teen years" and you respond with, I have two already older than 13? or the telling you how to parent like how to change a nappy when you've been doing it at least a year now. Telling you what your child is asking for/why he's doing that, as if you'd had no idea this whole time! Or worst, the mother who forgets you even have children and says "oh never mind, you wouldn't understand, you don't have kids" yet she was the same person going on about hormones and their side effects during your whole pregnancy?
4. That smell of poop, pee, stinky feet never seems to go away no matter how many times you clean!
Or move! You start to think maybe your skin has absorbed it and it's you you're smelling! Then you realize they've all grown up and moved out!? Seriously, how do you get rid of it?!
5. Any movies, TV shows, etc. where something bad happens with kids, kills you inside.
Before you had children they still effected you (I hope), you felt sad, empathized with the fact that maybe it's happened to someone in real life etc. But now! It's a new extreme, you cry, yes I mean you dads too! You go check on your kids to make sure they're alright during the TV break. You wake up during the night to check on them again, or you proceed not to watch that show or movie and put on something else.
6. When you think you've got a "routine" down with your kids, they change it up for you!
I used to go down to nap around 11am but now I want to go down for a nap around 3pm instead, or not at all! Because I've changed up my nap routine I'm now not tired around bedtime, lets stay up till 1am! Guess what! I'm still going to wake you guys up at the crack of dawn, even though you think I'll be so tired from staying up that I'll sleep in. And if you've planned to do anything today, I'm going to have my own plans so we wont get there on time.
7. You've forgotten how to socialize or worse don't even realize that you've forgotten.
When it comes to conversing with other adults, you find your self more nervous than a kid at day care. Actually, you're amazed and wish you could jump in like your son does! How the kids are automatically best friends for the day, never seem to run out of things to talk about? Why aren't adults like this? Maybe it's the fact that you've been talking to a 3 year old all day. You've missed any new topics on the news or other events that will be brought up later on and you wont have a clue what these people are talking about, then they'll ask your opinions on it and you'll draw a blank. After awhile everyone slowly stops mentioning things in front of you because they know, you don't know. Or when you do converse it's always something to do with what happened earlier with the kids, which is nothing to be ashamed of, but even YOU want some conversations that don't involve baby spit and that time you found the latest kid with his hand down the toilet.
