Best Mummy/Mum-to-be websites of the month
If you're like me you're constantly searching the web for work, research, fun, networking, blah blah blah...so naturally when I fell pregnant (yes I said fell) I signed up for every baby website I could find (BTW great way to get free stuff, not gonna lie) so I thought for those Mums and Mums to be (American/English or National) these are the sites I found most useful and fun no matter what country you're from.
1. Baby Centre (Center) - UK www.babycentre.co.uk US www.babycenter.com
Baby center is a HUGE webpage designed for Mums who are trying to conceive to having kids up to around 10 years old and everything in between! The front page (pictured above) is designed for you to easily find what stage you are, getting pregnant, pregnancy, baby, toddler, preschooler, big kid, for you, community, blog, shop, and registry! You can surf ALL the information as a guest or even create your profile if you decide you want to join other Mums in the community. They have everything, online antenatal classes, birthing videos, names, deals in your area, expert advice and of course my favourite ALL the medical information on pregnancy you could ever want, which will either scare the heck out of you or help you feel reasured. Trust me, if you're on this website from the time of conception you'll be teaching the next Antenatal class you go to!
Left is a screenshot of your child's growth timeline, this one is 31 weeks pregnant. It gives you all the information you need to know on that stage in your child's life. For instance, how your baby is growing, How your life is changing, helpful tips, videos, and expert advice for the hard or confusing part of that stage. There's even information for Dads and Dad's to be so it's not just limited to Mummy's. On your right is a screenshot of the Community area, this being my birthing club for August 2012 (when I say mine I don't mean I created the group, I'm just a member) This place is where I spend most of my time chatting to other mothers due around the same time as me, it includes information for your stage of pregnancy and all the answers, rants, worries, you could ever want! It's a great way to know you're not the only one feeling guilty about maybe not enjoying your pregnancy or have no idea about something, or need reassurance or even just to let of steam. Most of the Mums on here are very helpful and understanding, one because they're going through it, or two because they already have. You don't have to be pregnant to join the community either, no matter how old your children are there are groups for everyone, even Mummy's who've lost their children or a loved one. This site gives great support for everyone. And it's one that I have been using even before I got pregnant.

2. The Bump -
www.thebump.com/
The bump is another fantastic website, you may have stumbled on their sister site unknowingly called 'The Knot' which is an online wedding planner. This site is an American one, so most of the deals and some other areas are focus more on the US but you can sign up from any country. Again you do not have to sign up if you wish but if you do they will give you an online pregnancy planner, due date chart, your baby's own website (where you can put your registry's, baby shower event and R.S.V.P, anouncements, and guestbook) your bio profile, your own blog and much more! My favourite though has to be the baby announcement website. Here's a clip of mine...
you can add your own ticker from any website, or create one via theirs. And the webpages come in many different yet simple styles so you can edit around your personality. It also gave me the incentive to finally create our registries as we wont be having a baby shower. They even help you with that! I totally hadn't even thought about Amazon having a baby registry... duhh!!!
They too have a pregnancy timeline, and if you sign up it will keep up to date on your ever changing bump. I love the look of this website as it's very, yes I'm going to say it, organic... Gawd, never have I used that word to describe the look of something, I feel weird now. Anyway, I love the descriptions, info and pictures they give for each stage in your child's life. And help you with your checklist. The timeline and information only goes up to toddler age though, but to make it up they have two other sister sites called 'The Nest' which basically an online organizer of your life from food, mortgages, managing money, relationships, and even your pets! Or 'The Blush' which is a Mummy favourite for everything hair, beauty, style, celebrity and fashion. It's a bit like iVillage (which I'll come too next). And even better, if you've created a profile on one of the sites, you don't need to create a new profile on the next site because it uses the same account, YAY!
3. Pregnancy & Baby iVillage available to US,UK & I think national - www.ivillage.co.uk

iVillage is huge, it covers basically everything, yet it's hard to find information that you may have found last week as things get moved. I used to use this site ALL the time years ago, but even though it's not changed too much since then I've found certain things not as useful any more. But when you find a post, they are actually really interesting! And you could end up spending hours on here!

There are great articles on here for Mums, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Friends, you don't just have to stay in the pregnancy area either (which you wont) they cover beauty, diet, home, work, food, health, parenting, horoscopes, and travel. The quizzes are quite fun, and you're taking a true or false quiz they educate you on both what you got right and what you got wrong. Toolbox is a nice feature, with an ovulation predictor, Chinese gender predictor, pregnancy calendar, due date predictor, and baby namer. providing that they are working at the time as I've noticed they don't always. But it's still a website I would recommend either way as I am always finding myself reverting back to it. The articles really are the most fun and what make's this website, and I tend to use the food or parenting bit for recipes or crafts they'll even help you with your teenage children, which you wont find on many other sites! Enough blabbing, go check it out for yourself. You'll decide what you do and don't like about it. http://www.ivillage.co.uk or http://www.ivillage.com/
