Baby Alissa Guernsey was being what can only be described as torture for 3 months of her l
ife after being placed in foster care when her father died in a car accident. On March 28th 2009 she died after Multiple blows to the head. Alissa also had a cut to her head requiring stitches, A broken left arm, Large gashes on her gums from something being forcefully shoved inside her mouth, multiple bruises all over her body, and pieces of her hair missing from where it had been pulled from her head, over the 3 months of "care" she was in. Her foster mother Christy Shaffer pleaded that Alissa had caused all these injuries to herself. Alissa was discovered in this state when Christy was at a drive through ordering McDonalds.
The judge, Prosecutor, and Dr. Egli all chose to protect Christy because of their relationship with her father. She got charged with Class B neglect of a dependent for failing to get medical attention for a child in her care and only served 77 days in Jail. After that the case was closed.
Does that sound like justice for what Alissa went through? I'd like to ask you to take the time to look this over and form your voice on the matter as Alissa's was stolen from her before she could even use it. If you decide that this case was far from "closed" I ask you to sign the petition to have Alissa's murder case re-opened. In hope we can stop this happening again.
