Magic Box
This 'Magic Box' by Baby Art was given to us as a gift for Rohan when he was born.
I'm absolutely in love with it!
It took me, of course, almost two months to use it though.
It's extremely easy to use, no mess, and you can re-do as many times as you want within the five day drying period. Plus the beautiful tin helps protect it against damage before and after it's dried.
The Magic Box kit comes with a tin with your clay inside, a tin stand and a rolling pin to roll out the clay. I preferred using my hands as the side of the rolling pin made marks on the clay.
The clay is safe for use, just make sure you wash little ones hands and feet after as it may upset his/her stomach if she eats it. You can also use this for children between 0-3 years of age.
Step 1. Roll the clay in your hands for 30 -60 seconds, this is the only messy part.
Step 2. Roll the clay into the tin making sure you get the desired look into the edge of the tin. I used the palm of my hand to do this instead of the rolling pin.
Step 3. Now this is the hard part. Press baby's hands/feet into the mould firmly. For younger baby's it may help if they are asleep when doing this, as they tend to grab the mould, not open their hands long enough or kick their feet. This may take a couple of try's, if so just repeat steps 1 & 2 each time you need to try again. And don't worry, it takes ages to dry so you have plenty of time.
Step 4. Leave the tin in a place where little hands or animals wont get to it and let it air dry for 5 days. If you place the tin lid back on it doesn't harden.
TIP: If you want you can puncture baby's name into the mould or take a small amount of the mould and keep aside to create butterfly's, flowers etc to place on the mould for decorations.
